Past:

History of La Alhóndiga

In 1905 a very young architect, Ricardo Bastida, was commissioned to build a new structure in Bilbao’s Ensanche de Albia. His design produced a functional, state-of-the-art industrial construction as a storage facility for wines, liqueurs and other alcoholic beverages. The modernist structure was built in brick and reinforced concrete, and completed in 1909. It has been waiting for a new allocation since the 1970s, when operations were moved to the new storage space in Recalde.
